NEED A DEMOLITION COMPANY? HERE’S HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT ONE

Updated: May 30, 2023

CHECK OUT THE REVIEWS

Reviews = peace of mind. Past and current clients detail the experiences they’ve had and may even recommend the service. Keep in mind that the reviews should be fairly recent, consistent and honest. There may be a couple of complaints or negative reviews but don’t take this as the be all and end all. If the negative reviews are far and few between, then check how the business responds to the negative review. This should give you a better idea of the type of business you’re dealing with and whether they are professional and trustworthy. To cheekily plug our own business 😉 - Melway Bin Hire & Demolition - check out our google reviews here and our productreview.com reviews here!

ENSURE THE DEMOLITION COMPANY HAS ALL THE RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS

This one’s easy. If you hire someone without the relevant qualifications, you are playing Russian roulette with your project. Any demolition company or contractor MUST have all relevant insurances, licenses and registrations required to run their business and for any possible incidents that may occur. You don’t want to find yourself in a position where your works are on hold indefinitely. Or worse, you’re preparing for a court case because of your contractors mistakes. Insurers may reject your claim for using an unregistered/ uninsured/ unlicensed contractor. You could end up in a never ending money pit trying to fix their mistakes and/or damages. I cannot stress enough how super important this is. Ensure all your bases are covered.

* Our ABN is 75 115 080 825 13. Please ask us for a copy of our public liability insurance and our builders (demolition) registration.

ANSWERS EVERY QUESTION, NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL

You need to know that you’re being taken care of by professionals, to ensure they know everything there is to know about demolition and more. You know you’ve hired the right demolition contractor when they try their best to answer your every question, no matter how silly you think the question may be. Even if they don’t know the answer, they make the effort to find out for you. If they're answering your every question during the quoting stage - before you've even hired them for the job - then you know you’re on to a good thing.

EXPERIENCE

This may be a no-brainer but many people don’t know how experienced their demolition contractor is. This requires research. Especially if you don’t want someone with very little, or heaven forbid, no experience at all working on your site. Here are a few questions to start off with:

  • How many years has the demolition company been around? Check the date on the ABN or check their website to see when they started up.

  • Ask to see photos of recently completed works. Most demolishers should have no issue with giving you what you’ve requested at the off-chance of winning your works. If your demolition works need something specific (hand works, or separation of adjoining walls, etc.,), ask the demolisher if they have completed something similar. If the answer is yes, ask for photos or evidence. In having said that, I’m going to unashamedly spruik Melway Bin Hire & Demolition 😉. We have photos of our hand works and partial demolitions on our website (check out our gallery) and on our facebook and instagram pages.

Demolition is a big part of your new build and you want to ensure you start off on the right foot. So do your research, ask questions and read whatever you can thoroughly. If you do anything at all, do these three things and you will make the right decision for you and your demolition job.

All this research will eventually bring you back to the experts - Melway Demolition 😉😂. But seriously though, please do your homework. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve had clients call us saying that their demolisher isn’t answering their calls, won’t finish the job or keeps giving dates to start works and not actually coming through (for weeks and sometimes months on end!). You don’t want to end up in that boat!

Hope this gives you a better idea of how to go about choosing the right demolition company for your job. If you have any questions at all or would like a free quote for your demolition job, please contact Melway Demolition on 9354 6996 or contact us via email. We'll guide you through the demolition process from start to finish.
